The greatest annual tournament in the world starts today. As one (if not the only) hockey fans checking out this blog, how much are you guys going to watch? Can a Canadian make a push deep into the tournament? Will a former Sioux player hoist the cup? I would also like to hear a surprise team you think will make a push and who your crystal ball says will be the final two battling for Lord Stanley's Cup.

I think that Cam Ward could steal a few goals from Parise and the devils to grab a first round upset. In the end, the Stanley Cup playoffs come down to goaltending. Tim Thomas has been the best goaltender all year. His bruins will defeat detroit in an original six matchup that will be won in six.
I will come out of the closet as a hockey fan, I watch the play-offs anyway and the occaisional Wild game. So I won't pretend to really know what I am talking about.
I know Ovetchkin is Jordan on skates. So I like the Capitals. And I saw a couple of Blackhawk games on TV and they are fun to watch.
So I think it will be the Capitals and Blackhawks in the finals. But the Bruins/Thomas seem to be the smart pick.
I think the upset to watch for is Columbus over Detriot. (bold)
Without looking at what anyone else has written...
My predicton:
Florida over Hartford in 6
I did pick Boston, but I cannot cheer for them. I do not care for the cockiness of Phil Kessel, and the fact that he was a gopher does not help his case in my eyes. I have also always had a fondness for the Habs. I was hoping that they would take him out last night at the end of the game.
It was nice to go from that game to flip over to the blackhawks/flames game and here all of the positive comments being dished out for Jonathon Toews. A couple of really exciting games last night.
Plus this was really just an excuse to put a picture of Hayden Pannetierre licking the cup on the blog.
Go Whalers!
