This is a very interesting piece from a magazine that I...what's the opposite of frequent? Infrequent? We have been on a steroid kick lately and here is a neat little article that points out one man who had the huevos to blow the whistle on the whole thing a decade ago. It must have been a dog whistle though, because nobody reacted. I just wish this would all go away, like my hangover.

Interesting article. I think I remember hearing something about Helling calling out the steroids problem, but obviously it wasn't taken as seriously as it needed to be at the time. Good 'ol ND boys playing the game fair and honest.
Why does Jose Canseco get all the credit? His balls were so small from the roids that you can't even say he had the balls to out the steroids issue. Helling, on the other hand, without the ball shrinkage, can indeed say he had the balls to be the first the bring up the issue.
I also found it kind of interesting that this article came from the Joe Torre book 'The Yankee Years'.
Good article. Just another instance of greed coming before integrity in the cases of players, owners, and the player's reps.
I think Canseco deserves some of the credit even if he is a slimy rat. Someone needed to out everyone and he was the guy to do it.
