Speculation

So, it seems as if the media is not giving A-Roid an inch on his statements he gave during his press conference this week. It has already been reported that the drug he took was not available in the Dominican over-the-counter. Be sure that there are hundreds of reporters out there digging up anything that proves he was lying during that press conference. So, who is to blame? Should have A-Roid been more up front and let everything out? Does the best player in the game really not know what was being put in his body? Should the media just let this story die? Why have no former Red Sox been outed in all the steroid controversy? Please, opine.

David Ortiz has been connected to A-Rod's trainer.

i don't think that every player knows what he is taking. They leave that in the hands of their support staff, no matter how shady they may be.
Athletics are interesting, athletes are not. I'm glad that the media of the thirties chose to cover the babe's amazing abilites and over-look the nonstop boozing. The media upon which this country began handled subjects with tact. They rarely photographed FDR in his wheelchair, as it was of no concern to the US public. I feel that the media is mostly to blame for society's decaying moral fiber.

As for the red sox, former bosox in the mitchell report: manny alexander, paul byrd, jose canseco, roger clemens, paxton crawford, brendan donnely, chris donnels, eric gagne, jeremy giambi, mike lansing, josias manzanillo, kent mercker, mike stanton, mo vaughn, and steve woodard.

Yes, but manny alexander was the only player that was on the red sox when he was implicated as using PEDs. All those other guys took them before or after their time with the Red Sox. Its just funny that Mitchell had a conflict of interest by being involved with the Red Sox and none of their contributing players were named.

I have to disagree with shifting any blame on the media. A-rod for instance would have never come forward if it wasn't for media investigation. (he conveniently came forward right before Sports Illustrateds story) The media holds people accountable for the truth. Calling out liars like A-rod, bonds and clemens.

Why would it be wrong to show FDR in a wheelchair, I think handi-cap people do not want to be treated any differently. To ignore something implies that it bad. Media creates a dialogue for all of us to discuss and decide. It gives us the story behind the athletes and creates.

Plus athletes should know, and I think they do know what goes in their bodies. When your hat size grows and your balls are shrinking could also be a sign.

I agree with theriot when it comes to the media. Every scumbag reporter is trying to get an inch with a story. I am sick of hearing about what Brett Farve had for breakfast or what Pacman Jones said about TO. The media not showing FDR in a wheelchair probably gave the USA a stronger image to the rest of the world during WWII. I do think good investigative reporting is important though, which is how we got Watergate, A-Roid, and Tom Millers great work on the GFC underage drinking conspiracy.

However, I really wish the "steroids era" would go away. I am going to assume everyone was on roids and don't really care about the numbers. I will still be a baseball fan either way.

I hate every damn Pacman shot Brett Favre while he was finding a cure for cancer story, too.

But back to the point. Booze and hot dogs didn't make the Babe hit bombs. Taking a shot in the ass made Brady Anderson a 50-homer stud. Hell yeah, I want my media outing the Brady Andersons of the world. However, do I want to hear that Roberto Alomar has AIDS? Fuck no.

There's such a huge difference here. It's the gap between ABC News and Entertainment Tonight.

And let's not pretend like the media on which this country began was so pure. These guys made up the news half the time. They even took money to make crap up. Just because it happened a long time ago doesn't mean it was the good ole days.

Lastly, I blame society's decaying moral fiber on society. The media is simply a mirror.

In other words, get off my back you big queers.

The difference between ABC News and Entertainment tonight gets smaller all the time. Hell, the difference in news and fake news (Stewart and Colbert) gets smaller all the time. I'm not saying the Babe hit 60 because he drank like a fish, but it wasn't the talk of the day; nor was the Mick's boozing. People were enamoured with their image and didn't have people delving into their past to try and find out that Ty Cobb was a diabetic.

As for A-Rod's trainer, he is just that, a trainer. He caught a bum wrap because baseball was still trying to protect its image and appear steroid free. Along with Ortiz, Presinal has worked with: Ervin Santana, Robinson Cano, Luis Castillo, Francisco Cordero. Jose Guillen and many more Dominicans in recent years. He works with their Olympic athletes.

The sox thing: I didn't know that he was the Director of the Red Sox until November 06. Thats shady. Would you expect less though? I'm gonna look further into this, as i am not a fan of either.

I'm also pretty sure that everyone of us has taken a pill at somepoint without being perfectly clear on what it was.
