The dude is a friggin moron. In his defense, he's a swimmer, so he doesn't really know how to be a celebrity the right way.
His main sponsors are going to keep him, so it won't hurt the wallet too much.
This certainly will not affect his ability to whoop ass in the pool. My guess, from what I know about Phelps' intensity, is that he uses this as motivation to continue his dominance.

The guys obviously has a great lung capacity I bet hits the bong like a pro.
My thing is it is not a perfomance enhancer. But it could be for the Sumo-wrestlers who got suspended in Japan. It is not banned by the olympic committee although it is illegal.
So are we mad at him because he is supposed to be a role model to kids, he has a DUI too.
I think we should just respect that he is a great athlete. An athlete who needs to find friends that don't take pictures of him and send it to the tabloids.
Get over it world! Athletes (especially swimmers) drink and smoke pot. Not a big deal.
