Superbowl Homeboy!

We're a couple of days from the big game. Post your thoughts and prognostication. Also, pick against the spread...Pittsburgh (-7).

Ridiculous Uniforms

So I stumbled on this story about some pretty terrible outfits that MLB franchises actually thought would make their players look good. Please, feel free to add some of the ones that have made you cringe throughout the years....

Something to keep us busy...

So there hasn't been a ton to blog about lately, causing my mind to stray into deep thoughts about springtime and baseball.

I know we've done stuff like this before, but this time will be a little different.

Put together a lineup of your all-time favorite players. No statistical analysis or justification is needed. Simply YOUR personal favorite players.

*on a side note, i found a pretty cool blog where a guy is in the process of comparing each team's best home-grown players vs. their best players aquired by trade or free agency - pretty good stuff. the site is http://sullybaseball.com/

Inauguration Day...

The President of the United States of America is now a White Sox fan. Could the state of the nation get much worse?

The Gophers and College Baskeball

Tubby and the Golden Gophers have proven they are for real with a big win AT Wisconsin. They play great team basketball and are the best team in the conference without any all-conference type players.

Besides Erin Andrews, College Basketball is the hottest thing on TV. So many great, exciting teams out there. Final Four Predictions?

PGA Tour 2009

Its possible (if not probable) that I'm the only one here who cares about the PGA tour, but I'm going to pose some questions anyways...

How will Tiger play this year and into the future? Many say he won't be the same player after knee surgery, others say he will be better. I tend to lean to the latter. Look what he did for 16 months with only one good knee. Imagine what he will do when he has two good ones. He will win 7 times and 2 majors this year (Masters and US Open) and will pass Jack Nicklaus's 18 majors in 2010.

Will Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els return to major championship form? I think not.

Will the young players such as Anthony Kim and Camillo Villegas continue to improve and possibly make a run at Tiger? I think they each win twice, but no majors.

Will Sergio finally break through and win a major? Yes, he will win the British and I believe he will win 5+ majors in his career.

Will RedDog win the All City Golf Tournament next summer? Undoubtedly, YES.

My Vikes thoughts

Of course, I could have posted my thoughts underneath Naps' post. But I'm a greedy bastard. And in my wild blog life, I do what I want.
To me, the most gut-wrenching aspect of the Purple's crappy loss to the Eagles is that, for as close to a good team as the Vikes are, there's no easy fix.
As Naps pointed out there is one position that needs to change. I'm usually against pinning a loss or a season on one player or one position, but this is too damn blatant.
Sure, they can find a safety to replace Sharper or find a large orange cone to replace Ryan Cook.
But unlike any other sport, the NFL puts a massive amount of weight on one position. And that just happens to be the one position killing us.
So, it's only one position. You'd think that'd be an easy fix. However......
The free agent market is bare. The draft is a crapshoot. The cupboard is empty.
My Vikings boner is at an all-time low.
The Vikings need to sign a quarterback, any quarterback. I'm saying throw money at Joey Harrington, Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf, Gino Toretta, David Klinger. I don't care. I want new blood. I want to pretend like some QB is going to save us. Whether it's false hope or not, give me a damn quarterback, and not one who needs to sit and learn behind . . . TJoke? Gus?
I want a reason to belive in the Vikings next year. It should be a scary sign of things to come for the Vikings when you couldn't sell out your first home playoff game in forever (too lazy to look up exact date). It shows we don't believe.
So, triangle of authority, how are you going to make me believe?

Done, son.

"You've got to be kidding me!" of the game: Brad Childress
Honorable mention: Tarvaris Jackson

It is now time to focus on the future. So, who do the Vikes bring in to play QB next year?
