Anyone else liking the NBA?

They're still not playing defense. They're still traveling. But I'm liking it.
Everyone rips on the NBA. Everyone is waiting for college basketball to start cause kids try and defense is played, ya da ya da ya da.
It's about time it was cool to like the NBA. Cause I'm drinking the Kool-aid.
  • You've got Boston and LA good again. Can the Celtics repeat? Can the Lakers improve with Andrew Bynum?
  • You've got the Pistons. They got AI now.
  • You've got Cleveland. They've got LeBron and the King's finally got someone to pass to (Mo Williams). And no, not the Moe Williams that was a third down back for the Vikings.
  • You've got the Hornets and Chris Paul, who is maybe the second best player in the league right now.
  • You've got Phoenix with The Big Aristotle, Steve Nash, Amare, Grant Hill, Raja.
  • You've got Mark Cuban and Dirk in big D.
  • You've got D-Wade, Chris Bosh, the young Blazers, the upstart Timberwolves and the New York Knicks (who haven't played Eddy Curry or Stephon Marbury this year).

That's a lot of interesting crap. And it's way sweeter in HD now too. You guys watching this stuff?

I will be. I've always said that the NBA is better than college anyways.

I do love that you call the T-wolves "upstart." Maybe they are an "upstart" to lose 60 games.

Chris Paul is a stud...but I'd still put him behind Kobe and Lebron in that order.

I used to love the NBA. I think now it is just TV with your lead actors and supporting casts. Look what happened last night. Mr. Eva Longoria scores 55 points (granted 2OT win; Lebron scores 41 point; D.Stoudamier scores 49 points and Mello before the game starts goes on a mission to score 44 points. Can that be a team sport, should individuals be scoring that many points?

It's no longer Celtics vs Lakers
it is Pierce vs Kobe. (I am leaving out KG because I actually think he plays team basketball and defense)

So I am much more excited for ,the NCAA, where games are close, and every possession matters, it is actually a sport and not must see TV.

I definitely think there are some good plot lines in the NBA right now and am looking forward to getting into the season.

However, I have to agree that sometimes it is more exciting to watch players work hard and play in close games, a la the NCAA.

Guys, close games in the NCAA?

Are you kidding me? Every year in what is supposed to be the playoffs there are 30 and 40 point blowouts. There are many more blowouts in NCAA basketball than in the NBA. The NBA is similar to the NFL in that any given team can win any given game. You cannot say that about many NCAA basketball games.

Piranhas, ever heard of a guy named Wilt Chamberlain? Michael Jordan?

Michael Jordan scored points but he played defense. A perenial defenseive player of the year. Wilt was one of the first guys to block shots.

I would love to see MJ-Bulls type basketball these days, they played like a team and MJ made his teammates better.

The NBA now is 1 on 1 basketball. In the NCAA they will press, run an offense and hustly and the crowds at the games are better (Duke) the intensity is much higher.
Sure there are blow outs but the only reason the NBA doesn't have an incredible amount of blow out is teams are let back into games by crap defense and honestly the refs.

The NBA is exciting because of player's athletic abilities, like Kobe. The NBA could be better than NCAA but it isn't.

I think the NBA is definitely becoming more intruiging. There are plenty of super stars and great teams. The only thing is that the NBA regular season is very anticlimactic. You see guys dogging it through quarters 1-3 and then finally start playing in the 4th.

I enjoy college basketball much more. The games are so emotionally driven that you see 10 point runs back and forth. The kids get at it defensively and push the offense. There is nothing better than seeing a team like UNC or Kansas pull down a rebound, give an outlet pass, and make an easy lay-up.

We may disagree as to which is better, college or pros, but there is one thing we can all agree on, and that is HOCKEY SUCKS!

don't hate because there are two division one college hockey conferences.

i have no interest in college or professional hockey. period. i'm not hating on the sport, i'm just saying i don't give a shit. and i was born and raised in grand forks, nd. the nhl is a bust. period.

the nhl has horrible marketing, it was on top of the world in the mid 90's. They need to get back on FOX or some other major network
