Manny

Pretty good read here if you have some time. A little perspective as to why the Red Sox dealt Manny at the deadline.

i hate manny, i hate the dodgers, and frankly, i don't give a shit.

though i'm assuming this is just an expansion of simmons' point in espn the mag this week, so i have an idea what the article is about.

its a good article. However, just from a baseball side, it was a good time to trade. This off season they would either buy him out or pay him again. Now they got a similar player that strikes out more. They are paying Bay 7.5 mil as opposed to Manny getting 20. They also gave up Moss and Hansen. Moss is an OF. The Red Sox are a big market team who can afford to pay for corner outfield bats (Bay, Drew, etc). Hansen is a former 1st round sensation who has scuffled. A good throw-in to convince a team to swing a deal. The Sox let Manny go without looking like they let him go. I just hope it bites them in the ass
